Tweed yarns have such a rich history and gorgeous look that we couldn’t resist bringing these two lovely tweed bases to Hue Loco! By offering both a sock weight and a DK the options are plentiful for this distinct blend. Tweed yarns are created when small clusters of fiber are worked in during the spinning process forming the contrasting bumps, or NEPs, in the finished product! In our Tweed bases the NEPs are a different fiber than the base they are spun into when we dye these skeins the merino base takes up color beautifully while the contrasting flecks remain undyed. While tweed yarns are typically associated with earthy, muted palettes, we offer all our semisolid colors on these bases, providing a wide range of neutral, muted, vivid, and saturated hues to choose from!

The structure and drape of these blends are similar to their non-tweed counterparts, making them ideal for various projects such as socks, sweaters, hats, and more. While stockinette stitch is always lovely with tweed, we believe these bases truly glow in projects with texture. Tweed yarn and cables are a match made in heaven and in history, and the character in these bases adds an extra dimension to colorwork, lofty ribbing, and satisfying seed stitch.
