Whether on the same base or a variety of yarn bases, no two skeins of hand dyed yarn will ever look exactly the same. Consistency matters to us at Hue Loco, and we take great care to keep our dye lots as cohesive as possible. The Process, Step by Step
Every skein comes into the studio as bare yarn, ready for its transformation. The yarn is inspected for quality and structure, carefully prepared, and thoroughly soaked in water so it can absorb dye evenly, creating the foundation for the layered color effects and subtle shifts that define hand dyed yarn. Color is applied using professional acid dyes and citric acid, its then layered by hand to encourage depth, movement, and natural variation as heat, time, and fiber interact. 

After dyeing, the yarn cools to allow the color to fully set, then it is washed and rinsed to remove excess dye while preserving softness and vibrancy. Once dried, each skein is sorted and wound by hand, then labeled, inventoried, and packed for shipment.
